Snowboarding Preparing for the time of your lifeSnowboarding is quite technical in itself and probably harder to master than skiing. However once learnt it is far more interesting and the creative skills no known bounds. Once you start you will soon be thrilled but expect not to be on your feet too much in the beginning. You have to take baby steps in order to learn anything and snowboarding is no different. Once on the slopes you should be looking ahead and anticipating where you are going and what you are going to do. Snowboarding is quite physically demanding so it pays to be quite fit before you attempt it. Once you are on the slopes it can sap your energy and you can get quite demoralised if you do not get it at first. I can only suggest that you stick at it and once it clicks into place you can probably have some of the best times of your life. Preparing for your first trip can be quite daunting. Wondering if you can do it what gear do you need, and everything else that is going through your head. First the weather conditions have to be right. It’s no good going on your first trip if there is no snow and the mountain is covered in mud. Next you need the correct clothing. Your clothes should be loose fitting for comfort and suitable for snow conditions. You should also have a hat, gloves and goggles. Another thing for beginners is that when you fall you can take a lot of weight on your wrists, so wrist guards may be a help also a helmet. Injuries can occur in any sport so being physically prepared will help you avoid some of these. If you pick up a slight injury while skateboarding you should not continue. This can only make the injury worse so rest if you feel any small strains. |
